This award makes Istria even more visible on the global stage.
Istrian extra virgin olive oil Chiavalon “Ex Albis” from Vodnjan, a blend of five different olive varieties, has been listed among the top 25 organic olive oils globally. For the fifth consecutive year, the World Best Olive Oils organization has compiled a list of the top producers of extra virgin olive oil on the basis of results achieved at the 14 largest world competition, reports Novi List on July 11, 2016.
Chiavalon’s “Ex Albis” has participated in only four of the fourteen events that are being considered, but their results were excellent, making it possible for the oil to collect a large number of points and to be ranked 18th among the top 25 organic olive oils.
“This award is the major success for us when it comes to the work our family has put into the making of the olive oil, as well as sacrifices and passion”, said Istrian olive grower Sandi Chiavalon. Nineteen years ago, when they started their business, he was a 13-year-old helping his family plant their first 100 olive trees. Today, they have 7,500 olive trees and they currently export their products to 12 countries around the world. “This new recognition brings us even greater, priceless visibility on the world market.” Sandi added that this acknowledgement also contributed to the promotion of Istria in the world. Flos Olei, a respected guide, has recently named Istria the world’s best olive region, while Chiavalon is now adding to the image of the Istria County as a producer.
“Today, at the time of globalization and huge corporations, one rarely knows who is the one that guarantees a product’s quality. Meanwhile, the entire Chiavalon family strives and guarantees with its name that the olive oil that reaches you shall be of the utmost quality and the best one you have ever tasted”, the family proudly says.
