Come on in, the Water’s Lovely: Hvar New Year Swim with Polarni Tovari (VIDEO)

It promises to be a big year for the island of Hvar, which celebrates 150 years of organised tourism in Europe this year. And how better to kick off the year that a traditional New Year’s Day swim with the Polarni Tovari (Polar Donkeys) on January 1, 2018.

How long will it be before you take your first dip in the Adriatic this year?

There are some, of course, who just cannot wait to jump into one of the cleanest seas in the world. And so it was that several hardy souls took part in one of Hvar’s most recent traditions, the annual New Year’s Day swim by Bonj les Bains in front of Hotel Amfora. A little after 13:00 today, in they went, to a welcome sea at 14C. The trademark Hvar blue skies were recovering from the festive period, but it did not deter our intrepid athletes.
