“Crna Ovca” Festival Begins on Krk This Friday

A unique festival on the northern Adriatic island.

Crna Ovca, a festival of lamb, individualism, creativity, island heritage, popular culture, and sports, will begin in Baška on the island of Krk this Friday.

In addition to all of its varied programmes, it is important to emphasise and praise its rich and affordable gastronomic offer, based on a range of dishes made from the local Baška lamb, which are prepared by top-notch local restaurants and chefs from Valamar Riviera, which is the event’s main sponsor-partner.

The festival will this year also feature prominent musicians such as Detour, Psihomodo pop, My Buddy Moose and Urban & 4, who will perform at the stage in Baška on Krk from May 18 to 20, and certainly entertain all the visitors.

Another part of this year’s free festival programmes are guided hiking and cycling tours, which will include numerous participants who will visit the most important historical and cultural sites in and around Baška, the Corinthia Cup – Jure Vukasović Memorial sailing regatta, the Crni Jancić children’s football tournament, and the Ivica Juničić – Junac veterans’ memorial football tournament.

In addition to attractive gastronomic, cultural and sporting events, visitors to Baška will this year for the first time be able to attend the National sheep shearing competition, which is another skill that is almost impossible to see these days but is deeply associated with the Baška tradition.
