New adrenaline show starring 8 top British sporting heroes filmed in Croatia starts tonight on UK television.
Traditionally famed for its spectacular Adriatic coastline, more than a thousand islands and endless sunshine, viewers on British televison will have the opportunity to enjoy a lesser discovered aspect of Croatian tourism later this month, as ITV announced the screening dates of it new series ‘Eternal Glory’ on October 5, 2015.
Hosted by Richard Bacon and including some big names in British sport – rower James Cracknell, footballer Matt Le Tissier, javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, long jumper Jade Johnson, middle distance runner Liz McColgan, rugby’s Shane Williams, badminton player Gail Emms and sprinter Christian Malcolm – the show will pit the contestants skills against the adrenaline challenges offered by Croatia’s prisitine Adriatic and picturesque terrain. The show has been a success elsewhere in Europe, and producers Twofour are happy with the choice of Croatia as the location. The first show will go out on October 20.
“We’ll be putting our own spin on a format that has already been well received around Europe. Croatia is the perfect setting and gives us scope for lots of varied challenges. We’re thrilled to have Richard Bacon at the helm in Croatia and Professor Greg Whyte who will be giving his expert advice on the sports science behind each activity,” said Cat Alwson from Twofour.
“We have seen sports stars succeed in dancing, the jungle, cooking and the ice but I can’t wait to see them take on each other in these specially created challenges,” ITV commissioning editor Kate Maddigan said. “This show is designed to reveal what makes sporting legends tick and I for one am excited to see under their skin and hear personal stories from their careers and beyond. With 8 of this country’s top sporting heroes going head to head we are in for a competition like no other and with Richard at the helm we hope to have plenty of laughs along the way.”
