Winners will be announced April 7-9 and Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales in nominated with 49 museums from 24 countries.
“Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales” in Ogulin has been nominated for the prestigious “European Museum of the Year” which is awarded by the European Museum Forum under the auspices of the Council of Europe, as published on the Museum’s official Facebook page on March 30,2016.
This year’s winner will be announced during the annual assembly of the European Museum Forum in San Sebastian, Spain April 7-9. This award goes to a museum which contributes most directly to attracting audiences and satisfying its visitors with unique atmosphere, imaginative interpretation and presentation, a creative approach to education and social responsibility.
Past winners have been both large and small museums, but all developed something which was special and changed the standards of quality in museums within Europe.
As published on their official Facebook page, museum officials were honoured to receive the nomination and to be listed among the best 49 museums in Europe from 24 countries.
Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales, celebrates Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, probably Croatia’s most famous children’s story writer who was born in Ogulin in 1874. Museum is a unique multimedia and interactive visitor’s centre reminding us f the world’s most famous fairy tales and their makers.
The permanent exhibition offers many various activities, and it starts with the “Magic Forest”: a gateway into the world of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, the world where trees narrate episodes from Ivana’s life and stories from her books, a place where clever heads and capable hands can put together their very own fairy tale. Museum exploration continues in the “Enchanted Castle Hallways”, the perfect place to “get busy” exploring fairy tales: what they are, who writes, collects and narrates them, and what they are about.
Ivana’s House of Fairytales also has one of the largest collections of fairy tales from all over the world and you can browse through their amazing collection on their website.
