The Dinburger ChaRITy Evening took place on April 20 at the Hilton Imperial Hotel in Dubrovnik – a unique gastronomy concept envisioned and organized by students of the 2nd and 3rd year of RIT Croatia
The dinner saw a tasting of gourmet burgers combined with chosen wines, craft beers and cocktails, with around 40 students organizing the event, guided by professor Domagoj Nikolić from the Dubrovnik campus of RIT Croatia and Mr Danijel Butigan, F&B manager of the Hilton Imperial, as Slobodna Dalmacija reported on April 23, 2018.
Considering the innovative and interesting concept planned carefully and promoted by students for three months, it is no surprise the Dinburger ChaRITy Evening attracted many entrepreneurs from the catering and hotel circles, former and current RIT Croatia students, as well as Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković and Croatian MEP Dubravka Šuica.
“Dinburger is part of the so-called experience learning curriculum in which students leave the safety and comfort of a classroom and try their hand at professional projects in realistic circumstances. Looking form that angle, the project is more than a bare success, as the students, regardless of the excellent production and raised donation funds, learned a lot and established themselves professionally. If in this way we have made popular catering and tourism professions and showed it is a sector where one can present creativity and innovation, then our satisfaction has no end,” stted professor Nikolić.
The entire income from ticket sales and lottery in the amount of 37 thousand kuna was donated to the Olive House to renovate an apartment for organized accommodation to be used when their protégés turn 18.
“I am truly thrilled by this praiseworthy activity of young students for our protégés. I thank them from my heart for showing great effort and giving their best energy ad love to make this project happen,” said Ilijana Stojanović, principal of the Olive House.
