Above average pay, room and board and most beautiful scenery in the world
As reported by Brodportal on February 2, 2016, after no one applied for the opened GP position on Mljet, current GP Magdalene Nardelli KOvačić who will be retiring in a few weeks decided to share an open invitation with the media calling all her colleagues to come and work on one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
‘My dear friends, I need your help. I now meet all the required criteria to retire and I have sent my request since I believe I have given it my all both in my office and out on the field” Magdalene starts her open letter adding it’s about time she slowed things down. However, since no one has applied for the opened position she continues:
“I need your help, so please broadcast this message in Croatia and abroad, share it on social media, send it out to the Diaspora. Connect me with your journalist friends so this information can reach someone who is willing to live and work on one of 10 most beautiful islands in the world. I am an optimist and believe there is someone out there, working in some small infirmary or emergency room in Croatia or neighboring countries, all we need to do is put some effort into making sure this information reaches that person” Nardelli Kovačić says.
She also adds that the average wage of a doctor on Mljet would be between 8 000 – 9000 kuna, depending if it is an intern or a specialist. Applicant must have passed the State Exam and hold a valid driver’s license. On-call duties are arranged with the Department of Emergency Medicine in Dubrovnik and they are paid a 3-5 000 kuna a month totaling your average monthly pay to at least 11 000 kuna (above average in Croatian terms). Accommodation is secured, main apartment is currently undergoing renovations and until it is finished, room and board is paid for by the Mljet Municipality.
So, if you want a change of scenery or just want to cut down on your everyday stress (and you are of course a doctor), apply today!
