ZAGREB, March 19, 2018 – A digital campaign calling on fathers in Croatia to share on their Facebook profiles photographs of themselves and their children in everyday situations on Monday marked the beginning of the “Festival of Dads”, an event aimed at inspiring fathers to actively join in child upbringing.
The campaign, to last until April 22, was launched by the Swedish Embassy in cooperation with the nongovernmental associations Status M and Rode. It follows up on a project by the Swedish Institute and Swedish photographer Johan Bavman called “Swedish Dads”, which has been implemented as an exhibition with accompanying events in several dozen countries.
Detailed instructions on participation in the campaign is available on the Facebook page “Festival Tata”.
Twenty-five of the photos submitted will be selected and put on display together with photos of Swedish dads at an exhibition to be staged on April 20-22 at Zagreb’s Forum gallery.
As part of the festival, a round table discussion focusing on the active role of fathers in child upbringing and paternity leave will be held in the Croatian parliament in cooperation with the parliamentary Committee on Gender Equality.
