This is the first such event of its kind in the Croatian capital, a unique cultural and artistic project in the form of audio-visual installations will be placed in 7 locations in the Upper Town
“The Tourism Board of Zagreb and the City of Zagreb have decided to this festival should announce the coming of spring, as an overture to the new tourism season in our town. Of course, this is not an original idea, such festivals exist in the world and are well established, especially in Europe, but also on other continents. The festival of lights season in Europe begins in late autumn and ends in early spring considering the light techniques require longer nights,” said Tourism Board of Zagreb director Martina Bienenfeld, Zagrebancija.com reported on March 4, 2017.
This spectacle of light represents spring which symbolizes awakening, growth and renaissance. Attractive audio-visual installations will divert attention to some of the most important localities in Zagreb. The event takes place from March 16 to 19, in between 19 and 23h.
“To being with there will be the Grič tunnel with an installation called Magical Forest, an interactive light creation in which visitors will be able to create spring as their actions will influence scenes taking place in the tunnel itself, then the Art Park as a pass-through zone with an installation named Spring Awakening. This is a connection between the tunnel and Tomićeva street, where an installation named Towers in a Waterfall will be set, a unique play of light with spheres changing positions,” said project leader Ranko Skansi.
This four-day festival will bring Zagreb closer to other world cities, but also provide unique creations of light which will make Lotrščak Tower a lighthouse. The project was welcomed by the Mayor of Zagreb as well.
