First Foreign Movie to be Filmed in Croatia Using New Incentives

ZAGREB, September 24, 2018 – The Master Butcher’s Singing Club, a movie to be filmed at several locations in Croatia over a period of three months, is the first foreign production using incentives for filming in areas of special state concern.

Following the entry into force of the new law on audio and visual professions, incentives for investing in the production of audio and visual works were raised from 20 to 25% and to 30% in areas of special state concern.

The Master Butcher’s Singing Club, produced by Lutz Weidlich, is a costume drama about German emigrants in North America.

The movie will be filmed at various locations in Šibenik-Knin County, Sisak-Moslavina County and Zagreb County.

An entire small American town was built in Odransko Polje in Zagreb County for the purpose of this film.

The movie will be directed by Ulrich Edel.
