Celebrations of Split’s patron continue, and here is today’s overview.
Days of the hippies have long gone so don’t expect and hairy people on Riva on May 5, 2016, but there will be flowers. Lots of them. As a preparation for the Flower Festival which will open tonight at tDiocletian’sans Cellars, in the morning there will be the „Neka Riva u cviću pliva“ (let Riva swim in flowers) festivities on Riva, with workshops for kids involving flower arrangers.
From the outside rectangular, and from the inside circular ground plan of this old imperial court, Vestibule leaves a monumental impression even to this day. It has been under renovations for the last few months, and today it will reopen for public, just in time for the feast.
Croatian Maritime Museum has prepared the new exhibition, selection of old ship’s documents, while the Marko Marulić City Library has prepared one more children’s book presentation and the exhibition of paintings by Vlaho Bukovac, one of the most famous Croatian painters, combined with the poetry reading at the branch library Plokite.
One more exhibition will be opened today, at 7 pm in the Old City Hall; paintings by Berlin painter Jurgen Mitransky, who gets his inspiration in the Adriatic Sea. At the same time, Riva will be the venue of the dancing project by Split high school graduates “Split’s way – dancing against violence”.
We mentioned Flower Festival earlier, and it will be opened in the Cellars at 8 pm, and believe us, it is a sight to be seen. If you missed “Spli’ski akvarel” yesterday, you have the chance to see it again tonight at the Croatian National Theatre. If you are decided for the flowers, after that you can enjoy People Singers and their melodies as they will stage a concert at Riva 9 pm.
You can conclude the day with a stroll up to Marmontova street as the Photo Club Split is hosting a photo exhibition with a theme of Hangzhou at 10 pm, yet another Split’s official Friendly City.
