Not many electronic music festivals take place in the middle of a forest.
After 48 hours of great fun in a forest, in the nature and the heart of Međimurje, the sixth edition of the Forestland Electronic Music Festival has concluded. 63 DJs, three stages, two days and more than six thousand visitors demonstrated that Međimurje has become an important festival destination, reports Večernji List on July 18, 2018.
The music started playing on Friday and did not stop until Sunday at noon. After the opening of the festival on Friday with Jonas Love from Canada, it became obvious that a fun weekend had started. On the first day of the festival, the main star was Dutch DJ and producer Mark Sixma. The legendary DJ performed on the main stage and created a great atmosphere with its energetic hits.
The hidden forest stage “Forestroom” saw on Friday a performance by Croatian underground stars Petar Dundov and Torres, DJs who have been at the very top of the music scene for almost two decades.
“Although the atmosphere was somewhat down on Saturday due to the rain, that is the only element we cannot influence. Forestland has a great audience, we had the largest number of foreigners ever, and the largest camp,” said Krešo Biškup, the spokesperson for the festival. “Two hours of rain have certainly discouraged some of the visitors, but fantastic photos and impressions show that Međimurje has managed to bring together fans for whom a summer shower is not an obstacle to have a great party. We would like to thank all the sponsors, partners, visitors, and anyone who helped us organise another great festival.”
On Saturday, the fans enjoyed the performances of Zonderling, Steve Allen, Dekova, the Macedonian star Galoski, and the Romanian DJ Nick Havsen, who also wrote the festival anthem. The evening was somewhat marred by rain, but Havsen kept the fun going and prepared the audience for an absolutely brilliant performance by global stars, Zonderling. Thousands of loyal fans danced until early in the morning.
Forestland concluded its sixth edition with a traditional morning session by Jure Somen. The music stopped playing at noon, and the fun in the forest in the middle of Međimurje was over, at least for this year.
The party will return to the forest in 2019, and the Forestland organisers are already preparing a lot of surprises.
