Get Ready for a Heatwave in Croatia

Total Croatia News

Time to get the sunscreen out, it’s going to be one hot summer.

Even though first days of summer were a bit rainy, it didn’t take long for the first heat warnings to come out. According to the report by Vrijeme.hr issued on June 23, 2016, we are in for yet another summer with above average temperatures.

Dalmatian islands and Slavonia will experience temperatures that are 3-4 degrees above expected temperatures, but considering the last few summers, we’re not surprised by temperatures over 35 degrees anymore.

In case you want to escape the heat, then head to Gorski kotar and Lika since temperatures there will be within average values while the other bad thing we can expect this summer is extreme drought.

Vrijeme.hr predicts that the first real heatwave with temperatures dangerously close to and even over 40 degrees are expected in the first weeks of July, while the next days will also require attention if you’re planning on spending hours in the sun since the expected temperatures in Dalmatia will go over 35 degrees. This, of course, means staying indoors until at least 5 PM, drinking plenty of fluids (nonalcoholic), wearing sunscreen and every other skin protection you can think of.
