New location and new dates but familiar cosy atmosphere with plenty of concerts and events.
Gourmet Split, a street food festival which gave a new lease of life to the somewhat “shady” area of Djardin, is returning again in 2016, but this time in a new location, organisers confirmed on June 1, 2016. After the city declined to issue permissions to repeat the event in Djardin, organisers have decided to move it to the Bacvice open movie theatre, by the main city beach.
Last year’s event attracted more than 50 000 visitors in 20 days, and judging by the first announcements made by the organisers, this year’s edition could be even bigger. Along with a great selection of food and drinks, Gourmet Split will once again bring a whole string of interesting events, concerts, cooking competitions and presentations.
Gourmet Split 2016 will take place between June 16 and July 3. Last year’s idea to present various international cuisines is now taken one step further, all exhibitors will be able to get full mentorship from the consulate of the country they decide to showcase on their stand while students from the Split hospitality high school will be able to work together with exhibitors in order to get much-needed practice and experience:

The idea has been recognised by numerous restaurants and chefs in Split and I would like to invite all interested restaurant owners to join us this year as exhibitors and help us make this street food festival an event Split will be known for”, Martina Radovcic, one of the organisers stated.
Gourmet Split will have a fiery opening with the live performance by Vatra (Fire) one of Croatia’s most popular bands while Neno Belan also confirmed his concert during the three-week event. Live screening of all Croatia’s football games during the EURO 2016 will also be available on a large theatre screen while the list of other performers, shows, presentations, cooking workshops and other events during the Gourmet Split 2016 will be announced shortly.
