ZAGREB, July 16, 2018 – The 52nd International Folklore Festival will be held in Zagreb from 18 to 22 July, the festival’s director Tvrtko Zebec told a press conference on Monday.

The festival’s programme reaffirms the value of national cultures comprising dance, music, language and customs along with traditional handicrafts and the art of various cultures from around the world, Zebec said, adding that this year’s theme is heritage and migration.

He underscored that this year will see folklore groups and individuals representing the variety of Croatia’s ethnographic heritage, ethnic minorities, Croats from neighbouring countries and the diaspora, and about a dozen ensembles representing the heritage of other peoples and cultures.

The opening ceremony will be televised on Friday 20 July and on the last day a procession will be held from Zrinjevac Park to the main Ban Jelačić square.

Several stages will be set up in nearby squares with concerts in the evening hours from Wednesday to Sunday.

In addition, an exhibition will be staged in the Ethnographic Museum and the Etno Art Gallery for national costumes, Zebe added.

The International Folklore Festival has been held in Zagreb since 1966.
