The 10th Weekend Media Festival, the largest regional gathering of the communication industry, is due to begin on Thursday evening in Rovinj with a large Weekend Welcome Disco Party in the old tobacco factory. Over 4.500 participants are expected to take part in over 50 lectures, panel discussion, presentations and workshops prepared by numerous interesting speakers from around the world.
Sunny weather is due to accompany the Weekend, an additional reason to visit Rovinj during the most expected weekend of the year. The conference part of the Weekend begins on Friday with, among others, an interesting discussion by Srđan Šaper from McCann Group and Festival Director Tomo Ricov over current topics in the area of marketing, politics and music. The panel discussion Baby You Can Drive My Car should be noted, with participants discussing the future of transport and alternative solutions and new models of transportation services.
At the Creative Idleness panel discussion, doyens of the Weekend will discuss the past ten years of the Festival, revealing how the concept of creative idleness came about and forecasting the coming ten years. Andres Granberg will speak of Facebook’s investment in Sweden, a turning point for the Nordic countries. The afternoon programme is reserved for Jonathan Calvert, editor of the research team of The Sunday Times from Great Britain, who uncovered one of the largest scandals in the history of football, and Dominic Osterholt from Google will speak of the most important advantages and best practices digital marketers should follow in order to stay on top.
Making sure the tenth Weekend anniversary stays entertaining are Sajsi MC by Lampshade Media, after which Jägermeister presents “I’ll Sleep Tomorrow” featuring Nipplepeople, Nik Orosi &Pill Jackson.
