The increasingly popular Dubrovnik FestiWine is set to take place from the 17th to the 23rd of April 2017.
For the fourth consecutive year, Dubrovnik FestiWine, which celebrates all things wine and draws lovers of the versatile beverage from all around, will take place next month thanks to the organisation of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the production agency ”Dubrovnik Partner”, with the support of various sponsors.
Wine lovers, of which there are a rapidly growing number, will have the opportunity to sample some of the absolute best wines in the area in one location, as well as be in the company of respected winemakers, wine experts, sommeliers and all those immersed in the world of wine.
Dubrovnik FestiWine was created in 2014 as a regional wine festival of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, with the aim of celebrating and promoting local wine culture and the remarkable indigenous varieties of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which is known for its centuries-old tradition of wine production and has been widely recognised over the years by experts of all kinds in the field. The naturally beautiful Konavle region just south of Dubrovnik in particular is renowned for its perfect ”wine climate”.
The festival opens with wine evaluation (FestiWine Trophy), in which an internationally recognised evaluation panel, composed of both local and foreign judges, oenologists, wine professionals, bloggers and promoters of wine, led by Bojan Kobal, select the best wines of the festival. Things continue with a gala dinner (FestiWine Gala), with wines from last year’s festival expertly paired well with fine local delicacies. The process will be directed by talented and acclaimed chefs Fabrizio Veznaver and Peter Obad. Profits from the dinner will be given in their entirety to education scholarships for talented youth in the fields of both wine and gastronomy.
The ”Wine Exhibition” which is arguably the key part of the festival, will present a number of domestic and foreign winemakers along with their best products on Friday and Saturday the 21st and the 22nd of April.
From April the 17th to the 23rd, all those attenting the festival will be invited to visit the many restaurants and other establishments, including hotels, to taste the regional wines perfectly paired with local delicacies at promotional FestiWine prices.
