Great initiative to prolong the tourist season

If you are in dire need of some pampering and have to recharge your batteries after the long and dreary winter months, Opatija has just the thing for you. We spoke to a few hotel owners and Tourist Board representatives on February 24, 2016, to find out what’s happening in this city that once was THE place to go for noble families wherever they needed some R&R. Back in 1889, Opatija was declared an official climate Spa so, a few years back, city officials and hospitality managers started a project March – An Oasis of Wellness.

March is a month of beauty and health in this Croatian city where all hotels offer special beauty, rejuvenation and regeneration treatments, a whole range of wellness facilities and, of course, outdoor activities to reap the benefits of soothing sea air. When you’re done with your SPA treatments you can join the Nordic walking groups along the Lungomare, one of many aerobics classes, pole-dancing courses or hip-hop programmes for kids.

Special attention is paid to healthy cuisine so along with daily menus filled with nutritious dishes and energy boosters you can also attend one of many workshops and classes that will teach you how to eat well and show you various stress relieving techniques.

All hotels, dental clinics and medical facilities are included in this campaign so everyone can benefit from professional medical consultations and traditional beauty or oriental medicine treatments. March is also a month dedicated to camellias, symbols of Opatija. Flower aficionados will be able to join the Camellia Ball on March 15, visit various photo exhibitions and try camellia tea.

Activities don’t stop there. Opatija Tourist Board, in cooperation with Opatija Hiking Club, Učka Nature Park Public Institution and Gorovo Club for Sports Recreation, is organizing a unique expedition to the Učka Nature Park on Saturday, March 12. The programme includes:

CLIMB TO MOUNT UČKA – Villa Angiolina (Opatija) – Poljane – Poklon

EASY ROUTE (by bus) – Poklon – Joseph II Fountain – Vela Draga – Poklon

TREKKING ROUTE – Poklon – Vojak – Poklon

ELECTRIC BICYCLE ROUTE
