ZAGREB, April 12, 2018 – The 21st Motovun Film Festival (MMF) will be held from 24 to 28 July this year and instead of a partner country, Berlin will be the partner, and films, artists, pictures and sounds of that city will be presented in the picturesque Istrian town this year.
“This summer, Berlin will be coming to the hill of films with a score of films, three concerts, a special exhibition, performances and street art. These will all be taken from Berlin’s streets and brought to Motovun,” the festival’s organisers said.
The festival will present films and the art scene of one of the most vibrant cultural centres in Europe and the world, MMF said. “For more than a century, Berlin has been a magnet for people who love and create art and over the past few years it has been in its best form, never has there been as much and never has it been livelier,” the festival’s organisers described Berlin.
Berlin is a lasting inspiration for film makers and about three hundred films are shot in that city each year, and several hundred films mention Berlin in one way or another.
MMF recalled that the city has been mentioned by some of the most important musical artists of our times: including Berliner Marlene Dietrich, followed by David Bowie, Lou Reed, R.E.M, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Sex Pistols, and U2, Pink Floyd, The Ramones and Einstuerzende Neubauten – they all sang about Berlin and many of them spent at least one period of their lives in the city.
