The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 4, 2018.
The Film Artists’ Association of Croatia has selected Ne gledaj mi u pijat (Quit Staring At My Plate) as the Croatian Oscar candidate, Buro 24/7 reports on September 1, 2017.
8 out of 15 members of the jury selected the film by Hana Jušić to represent Croatia at the 90th Academy Awards Ceremony, in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Other candidates included ‘Ministarstvo ljubavi’ by Pavo Marinković, ‘Sve najbolje’ by Snježana Tribuson, ‘Ustav Republike Hrvatske’ by Rajko Grlić and ‘Uzbuna na Zelenom Vrhu’ by Čejen Černić.
The film won the FEDEORA Award for Best European Film at last year’s Venice Film Festival, and was nominated for many other awards.
The film is director Hana Jušić’s first feature film, as well as lead actress Mia Petričević’s first role. Other members of the cast include Nikša Butijer, Arijana Čulina, and Zlatko Burić.
