Great promotion opportunity for the Fresh Island Festival.
According to media reports, Netflix is interested in producing a documentary about one of the most well-known Croatian music events, the “Fresh Island Festival”, reports Index.hr on April 28, 2017.
The beach festival showcases hip-hop music and has been held every year since 2012 at Zrče, it is the only festival of its kind in Europe. It has attracted numerous greats of the music genre, including major music stars like Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Tim Westwood, Chris Brown and more.
Adnan Mehmedović, one of the organisers of the festival, said that the discussions with Netflix had only just begun, and that the contact was made through Enrico Schleifer, a music reporter, editor and producer with whom they had previously collaborated at the festival.
“He has started collaborating with Netflix and will produce certain pilot projects for them for documentaries and other programmes which they will select for their offer. Since we have collaborated on the Fresh Island Festival regarding its promotion in Italy, he proposed the idea about a documentary to his contact Lisa Mishimura who works for Netflix. He wants to produce a documentary about the Fresh Island Festival in Croatia.” Adnan said.
She liked the idea and so they began negotiating the technical details of the documentary which Schleifer would produce and deliver to Netflix after the festival.
“We hope that everything will turn out well because this would be a major promotion for the festival and for Croatian tourism. We are discussing the possibility of making the documentary available to Netflix’s audiences in the United States first, and then the documentary would be expanded to other countries as well. If that were to happen, that would be invaluable for the promotion of Croatia’s Fresh Island Festival, the destination of the island of Pag and Croatian tourism in the world.” concluded Adnan.
