Croatia returns to Eurovision Song Contest after a two-year break
Nina Kraljić, winner of last year’s Croatian edition of The Voice, will represent Croatia at the upcoming 61st Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Stockholm in May. Croatian fans of the competition are delighted that Croatia has decided to return to the Eurovision Song Contest after a two-year break, reports Večernji List on February 25, 2016.
“It is a great honour to announce that after a two-year absence from the Eurovision Song Contest we will be represented in Stockholm by Nina Kraljić, the last year’s winner of The Voice. Nina will participate in the first semi-final on 10 May, and we believe she will qualify for the finals which will be held on 14 May in front of more than 200 million television viewers. The song will be very interesting, suitable to Nina’s voice, and I am confident that she will represent us in the best possible way”, said Željko Mesar, head of Croatian Radio-Television (HRT) team for the Eurovision Song Contest.
From the very begining, it was quite clear who the HRT representative would be. “We were motivated by the fact that Nina Kraljić was selected by viewers of the Croatian Radio-Television as the winner of The Voice competition. She received almost a million votes”, said Mesar.
Nina Kraljić won the competition due to her great singing abilities, and she is proud and happy with everything she has achieved in just one year. “In just 12 months, many fantastic things happened to me, from winning The Voice to three nominations for the Porin Music Awards, and now I am going to Sweden to represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest”, said Nina.
“I expect to sing well, and I hope that we will achieve a good result and that our efforts will not be in vain. The most important thing for me is to present Croatia in the best possible way”, said Nina, who did not win over the TV viewers, but also many of the stars of the Croatian music since she performed each and every song with a personal touch.
