In Sinj?

The first evening of the ninth Sinj village fair, organised by the Sinj Tourist Board was successfully held, with help from the community of Sinj, the support of the City of Sinj, Split-Dalmatia County, and the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts.

Over the three days of the fair (the 2nd, the 3rd, and the 4th August), more than 35 exhibitors will partake with their own varied contributions on Franjo Tudjman Square.

In the entertainment part of the 9th Sinj village fair, numerous performances took place from local groups from around the Dalmatian hinterland, including KUD Vrilo, HKUD Peruća and more, these people are some of the most faithful guardians of Sinj and the Dalmatian hinterland’s numerous traditions and customs, passed down and nurtured through dance, several of which now find themselves on the list of non-material cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia.

All exhibitors have been welcomed by the director of the Tourist Board of Sinj, Monika Vrgoč, then the mayor of Sinj Kristina Križanac, who opened this, the ninth Sinj village fair.

This year’s novelties are workshops of traditional crafts. In order to protect Sinj’s traditional crafts from being forgotten with the winds of time, on the first evening of the fair, visitors had a chance to see clay master Ivan Knezović creates his work.

To add to it all, each and every year, the Ministry of Culture organises exceptionally well attended education workshops.

All visitors to the fair so far have been able enjoy sweet honey-based products from OPG Mravak, as well as tasty Sinj uštipci.

The ninth Sinj Village Fair is using the opportunity to invite you to see what is on offer tonight, beginning at 19:00 on Franjo Tudjman Square, as many interesting things await, including a workshop of almost forgotten craftsmanship skills, the presentation of which will be led by Ljiljana Vojković.

Also, a presentation from The Ghost Division Sinj AirSoft club is expected, which will give visitors a taste of just why this sport is becoming all the more popular.

For the musical part of tonight’s program, the group Ljuta Kuća will perform.

Entrance to the fair is free and everyone is welcome.
