The 17-year-old athlete from Split will compete in the windsurfing category at the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina
Palma Čargo, a young competitive windsurfer from Split, qualified for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on April 16, 2018.
The 17-year-old is a member of the Sailing Club Labud from Split. At the Techno 293 European Championship which took place in the Italian city of Palermo, Palma placed as the 11th European and the 4th national representative, thus scoring a place at the Youth Olympic Games which will take place in Argentina in October.
“Palma is the only sailor from Croatia that will represent Croatia at the Youth Olympic Games”, said her coach Marin Siriščević. It’s a significant achievement for the young athlete, but also one that calls for comprehensive preparations to get her in the best shape possible so she could face this responsibility, stated the coach. Palma is now aiming to get an outstanding score in the competition of the best young athletes in the world.
Apart from Palma, the championship in Palermo saw her colleague from Split, Rocco Hrvoj, who finished 53rd in the regatta and placed as the 43rd European contender.
