A little more time to see the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection in Zagreb.

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Exhibition in Zagreb has been extended until January 17, 2016. If you are in Zagreb this weekend, this is your last chance to see the exhibition of modern art from the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. Normally you would have to travel to Novi Sad in Serbia, but through this weekend you can still see it at the Art Pavilion in Zagreb.

Here is what the Art Pavilion folks have to say about the exhibition:

The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection: Gems of Modern Art (Novi Sad) is an exhibition that has been in preparation for the past two years by two Croatian museums – the Modern Gallery in Zagreb, the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, and the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection Novi Sad, Serbia.

The exhibition is at the Art Pavilion in Zagreb from November 19th 2015 until January 17th 2016 and it displays some of the best works from the art collection of the famous collector and diplomat Pavle Beljanski. Authors of the exhibition are the director of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection dr. Jasna Jovanov and dr. Zvonko Maković, who is also curator of the exhibition in Zagreb.

The exhibition emphasizes the works from the end of the 19th century until the late 50s of the 20th century and those artists who have developed and operated in European centers such as Vienna, Munich, Prague and Paris. At the same time it underlines artists who have left an indelible mark and made an outstanding contribution to the creation of artistic trends in the region, such as Sava Šumanović, Petar Dobrović, Stojan Aralica, Ignjat Job, Ivan Tabaković, Ivan Radović, Zora Petrović, Nadežda Petrović, Marin Tartaglia and others. Their works are the backbone of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection that represents both an anthological selection of current artistic trends of European centers in which the collector himself lived and resided during his diplomatic career. Vlaho Bukovac, once the initiator of the construction of the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, is presented at this exhibition with his famous painting La Grande Iza, which is also part of the Pavle Beljanski Collection.

Exhibition comprises a selection of about 80 works of art from the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. The whole project is the result of collaboration of three institutions – the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, the Modern Gallery in Zagreb and the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. Therefore, in parallel, for the duration of the exhibition at the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, the exhibition by Modern Gallery in Zagreb Miroslav Kraljević and his contemporaries is featured in the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection in Novi Sad.
