Lesson of the day – always carry an extra belt when taking a photo with the President
We all have embarrasing photos we don’t want the public to see, but when your belt decides to give up on you while you’re being photographed with the President, you can be sure there will be no way to hide it from the world.
That is exactly what happened to Ivan Zvonimir Čičak, president of the Croatian Helsinki Committee during the awards ceremony commemorating the International Human Rights Day at the National Library in Zagreb on December 8, 2015.
Traditional photo op with the Croatian President Kolinda Gabar Kitarović at the end of the awards ceremony turned into headline news when Čičak’s pants ended up around his ankles. Unaware of this little mishap, Čičak continued to pose for the cameras. Once he realised what happened, he quickly tried to rectify the situation. President Grabar Kitarović kept her cool throughout the photo shoot, but other award winners could not contain their laughter.
Of course, Facebook community had a field day, and only minutes after the accident, Torcida Split (Hajduk fans) started a campaign stating they will buy Čičak a new 120 cm belt as soon as they get 1000 likes (not forgetting to mention his close ties with Zdravko Mamić from Dinamo).
So, while the rest of the country is still tightening their belts due to crisis, seems Ivan Zvomir Čičak decided to loosen up a bit.
