The 6th instalment of the Medieval Festival is currently (August 5-7) taking place at the medieval Central Istrian town of Svetvinčenat and we have fresh photos from yesterdays, August 5, 2016 first festival day for you below. The photos are courtesy of Istrian PR and event wizard Karmen Radetikio who has already knocked three knights off their white horses during the first day.
A visit to Svetvinčenat during the days of the festival takes you back to the medieval age of knights, legends, myths, witches, royalties, horsemen, battles and archery duels. You can check out the medieval fair, learn about old crafts and skills, enjoy traditional food, check out the arms and armour of medieval knights, practice archery and crossbow shooting, attend an equestrian tournament, witness a night attack on the castle with cannons, flaming balls and arrows and more. Kids can participate in medieval games and workshops.
The medieval festival takes place in and around the Morosini-Grimani Castle, which is continuously being renovated and is located at the centre of town. The festival is international and hosts historical associations from Croatia, Italy, Slovakia and other countries.
