Poreč Mosaic City & Waterfront Wine Nights End this Weekend: Watch Video Highlights

Total Croatia News

Vibrant, coastal Poreč is holding two, well-paired events this weekend; an Arts event, ‘Mosaic City’ celebrating the valuable mosaic sculpture of the Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica, inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List; and an entertaining ‘Wine Nights’ event, bringing together an array of winemakers, local delicacies, renowned Istrian wines and musical performances.

More than 14 centuries had passed from the last mosaic sculpture in Poreč; until 2012, when the launch of the annual Mosaic City reawakened a passion for further production.

The project for the urban regeneration of mosaic art is held in the Mosaic City Symposium and gathers both international and Croatian artists and experts between 1st and 15th of May this year. It aims to encourage the creation of new and valuable pieces of art in the City of Poreč; strengthening it’s reputation as a recognisable site for its valuable collection of ancient and modern mosaic works of art.

Artistic, professional and scientific works produced during this event will remain a permanent heritage of the city and it’s future generations. More information can be found here, at the event’s official website.

Here are the video highlights; including some exquisite work from last year’s event…
