Prelog Declared European Town of Sport 2019

April 22, 2018 – The town in Međimurje is the fifth in Croatia to carry the prestigious title

After a visit paid to Prelog by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), it was announced that the town located in Međumurje County had met all the criteria required for it to get the title of the European Town of Sport 2019. The award will be presented to the town’s representatives at the European Parliament in Brussels on November 22, reports Lokalni.

Prelog is the fifth Croatian city to carry the prestigious title, following Lepoglava, Buzet, Belišće and Umag.

“The sports family in Prelog is made of some 600 athletes, assembled in over thirty sports associations”, said the Mayor of Prelog Ljubomir Kolarek. The president of ACES Europe Gian Francesco Lupatelli stated that Prelog had met all the main criteria held in high regard by the ACES family: a love of recreation, willingness to sacrifice certain things in life in order to meet set goals, a sense of cooperation in the community, learning fair-play and improving the overall health of the town’s inhabitants.
