ZAGREB, September 3, 2019 – The Croatian Red Cross (HCK) charity organisation on Tuesday informed that it had procured a specialised rescue vehicle – RescueRunner – the first of its kind in Croatia which enables speedy coast guard rescue missions in conditions when other vessels cannot be engaged
“RescueRunner has excellent manoeuvring abilities and speed and can approach someone in the water at a very close distance. It can tolerate contact with coastal and floating objects because its hull is constructed of very durable plastic that can take heavy bumps,” the Red Cross said in a press release.
The vessel was developed by rescue services in Sweden for cases requiring speedy reaction in sea rescue missions and can be used in cases when other vessels practically cannot operate.
A practice rescue mission will be presented on Zagreb’s Jarun lake on September 5.
HCK informed that more than 550 Red Cross rescue teams intervened in almost 2,000 cases on 200 beaches around Croatia this season.
The Croatian Red Cross association has for years systematically invested in its rescue activities in an effort to raise the level of safety for tourists and the local citizens.
