April 16, 2024 – A unique gastronomic and tourist event took place in the village of Kajgana near Garešnica for the second year in a row, the Kajganijada, or the scrambled eggs festival.

The Kajganijada was organized by the Oldtimer Club Kurbla from Garesnica, and the competitors included all, big and small, writes Mojportal.

Fun as the Main Ingredient

Eleven teams competed this year, and all the delicious scrambled eggs they made were eaten, but the best eggs had to be rewarded. The main ingredient of every plate was, say the organizers, good fun, so even if they were left without an award they had a great time.

The Jura team, Luka and Mario Juretić won the first place, Pčelari with Leona and Marko Grgić came in second, and Zlatko Husak third.

The winners were decided by a jury composed of Daniela Belak and Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish, assisted by Zvonimir Šavorić. In addition to the competition in making scrambled eggs, there was also a competition in carrying an egg in a spoon, and Lucija Puhović and Ema Weisshar were the fastest.

“We thank the Tourist Association North Moslavina and Daniela Belak, Ribafish, Zvonko Šavorić, Gala from Bjelovar. Thank you also to the Infoklub Virus and the SFERIA Association Garešnica for the imaginative gifts for the participants, to the cheerful team from OTK Purgeri Zagreb for coming in such large numbers and to everyone who helped make today’s meeting possible”, says the association from the Garešnica club Kurbla.

Jury president Ribafish also gave his review of this year’s Kajganijada.

“The creativity of people from small towns around Lijepa Naša is immense, which is why Garešnica and the surrounding area host the Fišijada, Traktorska alka, Tripa Fest, and by God, the Kajganijada! As I’m slightly in love with this region and the hardworking people who always find a new way to get together and have fun, I couldn’t refuse the invitation to the egg omelette competition, as well as participating in the egg-in-a-spoon race. Apart from the fact that my egg fell out, the rest of the day was wonderful, and the participants, that is, the egg bakers – up to the task! There was no bad scrambled eggs, because there is no bad food when you’re hungry, there were creative and imaginative dishes, some gambled, and some played it safe… We also tried eggs with asparagus, fennel, salad, peppers, a hundred kinds of bacon and you won’t to believe – with honey!”, wrote Ribafish.
