Both versions of the limited Irish edition of Startas were scooped up on the same day they were launched

A couple of days ago, the Irish Embassy in Zagreb published a post on Twitter that set this popular social network on fire. The most renowned Croatian shoe manufacturer Borovo launched a limited edition of their Startas line, the iconic canvas trainers that first hit the market in 1976 and rose to fame in the 80s.

Startas have had a revival in the last ten years or so, and they don’t seem to be going out of style any time soon. In collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland, Borovo launched two different versions of Startas printed with shamrock, the three-leaf clover known as the symbol of Ireland and government-protected logo used by Irish sports clubs, companies and various manifestations.

The Irish edition of the beloved Startas was quick to draw attention from social media users, who jumped on the chance to get their own pair in time for St. Patrick’s Day. As the Embassy stated, the entire first batch was scooped up on the same day they were presented to the public; all interested buyers were instructed to contact the Irish Embassy in Zagreb by email and drop by in person to pick up their pair.

Reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with the majority of Twitter users expressing interest in scoring their own Shamrock Startas. I WANT them!, Any more left?, OMG I’m in love! – you get the gist. Fingers crossed for another batch hitting the shelves this time around, and in the meantime, hats off the the Irish Embassy for doing a better job of promoting Croatian products on the international market than our own diplomatic service is capable of.
