After graduating from a high school and the design studies at the Faculty of Architecture, she became what she had always dreamed of being – a designer, reports 24sata.hr on October 25, 2018.
After many years of working on the industrial and graphic design, Lidija has become a proud owner of Lilipop Design. She has created Tabushi, a stool and a bar stool which look like Japanese sushi.
“I love sushi, but I find my inspiration everywhere, this time in the form and colours of the food. I did not want it to be just a stool which looks like a sushi, but I wanted to include the story which accompanies the food. Therefore, the stool has a storage area under the lid, which reminds us of conserving the fish in the rice previously cooked in vinegar. In that way, the food could travel and reach far away destinations,” explained the designer.
In production, Lidija uses high-quality, durable materials. “I always use materials that have good references and specifications. If after some time they prove to be good, then I keep using them. I mostly use oak, and cotton and polyester blends for upholstery. I plasticise certain metal parts to further protect them,” said Lidija. Tabushi Combo allows you to put your slippers, favourite magazine or a toy inside it.
The bar stool consists of a sushi-like seating area and a pair of legs which are sticks – the utensils used to eat sushi. It is particularly useful for the decoration of themed interiors, i.e. sushi bars and Japanese restaurants.
Lidija is currently working on the Tabushi line of seats, and there are other items that the brand will cover. “I am currently preparing for a fair in Belgrade and then in Germany, where I want to introduce Tabushi. There is a lot of work in launching a new product and positioning it in the market, which does not rule out the development of new pieces of furniture or other items,” explained Lidija.
Tabushi Combo comes in two sizes. She also makes Tabushi Bar and Home Bar – two types of bar stools in two heights. Children can enjoy Tabushi Mini – a small children’s stool produced with materials certified for use in kindergartens. There is also Tabushi Long – a bench which can accommodate two people.
