MURID was founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting wellness and aid to children with biological and social risk for optimal development

The humanitarian drive “Taste, Love, Give” was held in the Međimurski Dvori restaurant in Lopatinec, in the northern region of Međimurje. Funds were collected to support the programme of the Međimurje Association for Early Childhood Intervention (MURID) which offer expert support to parents and children with biological and social differences that influence the entire development of a child and its integration into society. A large risotto was prepared for the drive, whose main ingredients were love, unity, warmth, joy and laughter, as well as pastries, sausages in wine, poppy strudels, apples, apple crisps and other delicacies.

A warm welcome was the work of guest chefs: Kristian Kozmić, Ivica Devčić, Marija Kuzminski, Ljiljana Sedlanić, Renato Pofuk, Doris Vlah and Luka Dančulović, known as competitors at the culinary TV show of RTL “3, 2, 1 – cook,” while a good atmosphere was the work of host Aleksandra Ličanin and band Igor Baksa and friends.

“Guests participated by purchasing donation coupons of 30 kuna for a meal with a drink included (wine or juice) from the wine houses Hažić and Cmrečnjak. 67 donation portions of risotto were sold, for a total of 2.010 kuna collected for the association,” said Željka Balja, project leader.

Every purchased coupon also participated in a raffle, drawn by Luka Pokupec from Čakovec, who was diagnosed at 18 months with autism, a pervasive growth and communication disorder. Luka’s therapy and relentless practice made him at five years old a healthy boy, who is a regular at the kindergarten where he is learning to read and write, another proof that early intervention can achieve a lot.

MURID was founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting wellness and aid to children with biological and social risk for optimal development, including educational, research and advisory work in early development of children, a type of care essential also to their parents and families.

“In the children’s corner they had a good time with donations from the Rainstal company and MURID who actively volunteered. The end of the drive was toughest on those who had to go to bed so there were some tears in the end,” concluded Bajla, who thanked the Sveti Juraj na Bregu District, Međimurje County and Međimurski Dvori restaurant.
