The festival presents the Mediterranean culture of living, especially gastronomy and indigenous products, and promotes Šibenik and the area as a desirable gourmet destination

Scientific studies have proved, and our palates persistently indicate: Mediterranean cuisine is healthy and – lovely. Šibenik will soon host the 4th edition of the Taste the Mediterranean festival, where visitors will taste good food, good wine and have good fun, the organisers promised, led by Ingrid Badurina-Danielsson. The festival presents the Mediterranean culture of living, especially gastronomy and indigenous products, and promotes Šibenik and the area as a desirable gourmet destination. It is the only festival in Croatia which brings together so many superior foreign and domestic chefs, sommeliers, artist, journalists and admirers of good food.

The Festival takes place in Šibenik and its environs from 1st to 4th June, with four festival days full of interesting workshops, culinary and pastry presentations for the public but also professionals: chefs and caterers. Ten of the best Šibenik restaurants and konobas are taking part in this year’s programme, serving during the festival local Mediterranean dishes and wines at special prices, recognisable by the blue and white balloons with the name of the festival.

On the first day of the festival, Thursday, at the unique location of the Krka monastery within Krka National Park, the renowned Slovenian WSET sommelier Mira Šemić will guide a tasting of superior wines and on Friday at the Roški waterfall in the same national park the cooking show of Ippei Uemura, Japanese cuisine master with a Mediterranean touch, will take place. That same evening, an exclusive dinner will be held in the Betina Marina on Murter Island, a combination of French and Istria cuisine, performed by two great ladies of gastronomy: Paris-based Flora Mikula and Zagreb-based Vesna Miletić. On Saturday a dinner will be held in the Mediteran restaurant in Primošten, with Lionel Levy, Ippei Uemura, Yoan Dessarzin and the host Pero Savanović as chefs. On Sunday, in the famous Opat konoba in Kornati National Park, young Chef Ante Božikov will offer a multitude of tastes and scents of his meals. Spaces are limited so reserve yours via the web page www.tastethemediterranean.eu.

Haute cuisine will be presented by Michelin Chef Lionel Levy and his pastry Chef, Yoan Dessarzin, who will prepare the final dinner of the Taste the Mediterranean festival. In the new cult location of Šibenik, the bio-bistro SHE, ecological agriculture will be the topic, presented by rural development expert Sonja Karoglan Todorović, as well as the growing trend of using eco-products in catering, led by Jelena Petrov from RERA SD. The Saturday festival programme will take place in the renovated caffe bar Moderato Cantabile, beginning at 10:30h. Belgian designer Kunty Moureau, author of the project Belgian Mood Food, will present Chef Jeremy Girvano who will hold a culinary demonstration. The culinary institute Kul In will also hold a presentation, whose imposing team is led by Chef Zdravko Perić, on the topic of “Sensory Communication”.
