This will be the 11th edition of the popular event.

There are just three days until the start of the 11th Weekend Media Festival, the largest media and communications industry event in Southeast Europe, which will take place September 20 to 23 at the old tobacco factory complex in Rovinj. This year’s Weekend Media Festival brings new halls and formats, interesting lecturers and numerous panels, as well as over 5,000 participants, reports Večernji List on September 17, 2018.

One of the panels is the West Wing on how to advise leaders. The advisors of regional prime ministers and presidents will reveal the challenges they encounter in their work. “Certainly, this was the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, as well as an attempt to bring down the settlement agreement in Agrokor, which fortunately failed. In addition, the challenge was to try to influence the work process itself and to create a team which works together, which is a key prerequisite for success,” said Krešimir Macan, former adviser of the Croatian prime minister for strategic communication.

Slovenia will be represented by Stojan Pelko, a former adviser to Samuel Žbogar, the special EU representative in Kosovo. Co-operation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will be discussed by his long-time media advisor Suzana Vasiljević. “We spend a lot of time talking. We often disagree, sometimes there are sharp exchanges of opinions, but I think that is normal and healthy. The greatest danger for leaders is to surround themselves with people who will not be allowed to point out their mistakes,” said Vasiljević.

More about the exchange of opinions with Croatian footballers on the pitch and outside will be revealed by national team manager Zlatko Dalić, who will share previously unknown details from the World Cup in Russia. One-on-one with Dalić will be an opportunity to find out how he managed to achieve the incredible series of victories with the team.

Part of the programme of the 11th Weekend will be dedicated to the festival partners, Germany and France. Guests from the leading European economic powerhouses will present their best marketing, media and business practices. Christine Amtmann and Elsa Comby will present the television channel ARTE, one of the pioneers of digital media, which stepped outside the national boundaries in the field of culture and information. French security expert Eric Leandri will explain how the first search engine which protects user’s freedom operates.

In addition to interesting topics and debates, the festival will also include music and entertainment programme, with performances by Zdenka Kovačiček, Marko Tolja and HRT Jazz Orchestra. The big final of this year’s Weekend is reserved for the Belgian duo 2manydjs, who will make all the visitors dance.
