Along with heaps of debris, an old explosive device washed up on Banje beach

Banje beach in Dubrovnik got an unexpected visitor last night: a naval mine originating from World War II was washed ashore after a violent bout of jugo wind stirred up the local waters, reports DuList on December 16, 2017.

There’s no reason to worry, though. The Police Department of Dubrovnik-Neretva County reported the site has been contained, and the preliminary investigation established the device in question is a WWII moored contact mine. Bomb disposal experts are currently working to safely remove the device. Not a sight you often get to see!
