Zagreb is the place to be!
From 20:00 on the 13th of September, 2017 until Saturday, Zagreb will become the center of the world! The sixth edition of the Zagreb International Tourfilm Festival will open tonight at the Kaptol Boutique Cinema.
For lovers of travel, films are available in several categories: Promotional films of up to three and seven minutes, promotional films of up to 60 minutes, and TV reportages and ecological movies of up to 60 minutes.
This year, 520 films from 76 countries were entered, of which a huge 170 entered the competition for one of the prestigious awards.
”A 10-member jury will decide on the best of the best, all of them domestic and European experts. The President of the jury is Gorjan Tozija, Director of the Macedonian Film Agency. There are some particularly interesting works from countries like The Kingdom of Bahrain, the UAE (Dubai), Turkey, Portugal, Denmark, Bangladesh, India and Australia,” stated Spomenka Saraga, Director of the Zagreb Tourfilm Festival.
The best films will be screened during a small movie marathon at Kaptol Boutique Cinema, Nova Ves 17, and on the 14th of September between 14:00 and 21:00, entrance is free. The Festival program is available on the web and on Facebook.
The patrons of the Festival are Croatia’s President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the Croatian Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian Tourist Board, the City of Zagreb and the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb. Along with the rich movie program, a large number of sponsors’ awards have been prepared for the public from: Turkish Airlines, Kalazić Winery and Puhelek – Purek, Matea Nesek General Trading L.L.C., OPG Nedjeljka Jurin – Island Product.
Also, the Tourist Board of Sveti Ivan Zelina will present its tourism potential.
For the second year running, the tourism faculties of Slovenia: Faculty for Tourism – Univerza v Maribor and Turistica Univerza in Primorska, are participating in the festival. Their students will choose the best tourist movie in their opinion.
Zagreb Tourfilm Festival is a full member of CIFFTe – the International Association of Tourist Film Festivals, whose members include Tourfilm Karlovy Vary, Art&Tur Portugal, Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, France, ”Das Goldene Stadttor” (The Golden Gate) from Germany and many others.
If you find yourself in Zagreb today or over the coming days, enjoy the film spectacle and take a short but pleasurable journey around the world. The films are of a very high quality, and according to Saraga, the jury has a rather difficult task.
Spomenka Saraga stressed that every year the festival receives more and more films from all over the world, highlighting the respect Zagreb’s Tour Film Festival has gained on an international scale.
