Part one of the reconstruction project is in final stages.
Despite demanding construction works that will be finalized as soon as possible, the Zagreb Zoo visitors can still come and see many of the famous inhabitants of the Maksimir Park. Until the end of July, the price of tickets for all visitors over the age of 7 years will be 10 kuna. For children up to 7 years of age, the admission is free, reports Poslovni.hr on July 19, 2016.
The modernization of the Zagreb Zoo project is in its final stages and although the movement around the grounds is limited, it does not deprive the visitors of the encounters with the popular giant anteater, komodo dragon, pygmy hippopotamus, Chinese leopard and other animals. A cheerful atmosphere awaits visitors around the dwellings of the white-handed gibbons, chimpanzees, black howler, and brown capuchin. Emus and wallabies will remind them of the hot Australia, while poisonous frogs and exotic snakes represent exotic jungles.
Another proof that not all fans of nightlife have left Zagreb for the music festivals on the Adriatic coast is the nocturnal mammal civet. This is a cat-like animal which shares the Twilight Zone pavilion with bats and night monkeys, animals which are most active when the night falls.
With this reconstruction project the Zoo wants to “strengthen the tourism infrastructure; open a new restaurant, restore the main entrance and build a new one near the tram station, establish an information centre and a gift shop, build two new bridges and restore a number of paths and trails”.
Visitors to the Zoo are always eager to have all the information and they will be able to get all the details at the new educational centre. As part of the reconstruction effort, the Zoo also promises “unforgettable new dwellings for lemurs and the animals of Madagascar”, as well as enjoyable encounters with Dalmatian pelicans and exceptional aviaries with large African birds.
