ZAGREB, March 4, 2018 – The 14th edition of the ZagrebDox documentary film festival ended on Sunday and the winners have been announced: the Best Film in International Competition is “Of Fathers and Sons” by Talal Derki while the Best Film in Regional Competition is “The Other Side of Everything” by Mila Turajlić, and the Best film of a young author up to 35 years of age is “Over the Limit” by Marta Prus.
The founder and the director of the festival, Nenad Puhovski, told Hina on Sunday that he was satisfied with a very good turnout of the audience that braved adverse winter weather including freezing temperatures and icy rain to attend screenings. All theatres in the “Kaptol Boutique Cinema” were packed during the seven days of the competition part of the festival that began on 25 February.
As for the winners of this year’s festival, Puhovski noted that both “Of Fathers and Sons” and “The Other Side of Everything” were about attempts to analyse the broader developments in a country and on the political scene through the events and experiences in a family.
The competition part of the festival ended on Saturday. Sunday was the day for The Best of Fest – screenings of award-winning films, and In Case You Missed It – six additional screenings of a selection of documentary films from different programme sections.
