A Third of All Income from Winemaking Made by Agrolaguna and Dalmacijavino

Besides 2014, when winemakers made a profit of 42.6 million kuna, the next four years winemakers made net losses, with the biggest one in 2012 in the amount of 77.6 million kuna, and the smallest one in 2016 of 3.6 million kuna.

When viewing the business results of entrepreneurs in winemaking in a five year period from 2012 to 2016, the conclusion is that the number of winemakers continues to grow in 2016 and is larger by a third compared to 2012, while the number of employees has been reduced from 1.509 to 1.284, Agrobiz has reported on November 11, 2017.

The main reason for this reduction are vents in Dalmacijavino, which entered bankruptcy proceedings in 2012 and reduced the number of employees by 200.

Contrary to this, the total income is larger in 2016 compared to 2012 by 26.5%.

In 2013 and 2014 income grew, with a decrease in 2014 by about 15%, followed by a growth of 18% in 2016.

Besides 2014, when winemakers made a profit of 42.6 million kuna, the next four years winemakers made net losses, with the biggest one in 2012 in the amount of 77.6 million kuna, and the smallest one in 2016 of 3.6 million kuna, a 95% reduction.

These results were influenced mostly by several businesses, among them Dalmacijavino (losses in 2012 were 23.8 million kuna, in 2013 they grew to 27.2 million kuna and in 2015 were reduced to 23.4 million kuna), and two medium sized businesses, Imota (a loss in 2012 of 21.8 million kuna) as well as Istravino (a loss of 21.7 million kuna in 2012).

In the same period, entrepreneurs in winemaking varied in numbers and also reduced the number of employees by 16%, and total income by 26%.

The band of businesses presented losses from 2013 to 2015, with the largest one in 2013 (18.1 million kuna), while a larger profit was made in 2012 (14.8 million kuna), and just over 7 million kuna in 2016. Looking at their exports, the conclusion is that it was reduced from 55.2 to 12.9 million kuna, or by 77%. Import grew from 0.85 to 9.5 million kuna (also 77%). In comparison, winemakers slightly increased export (9.4%) and reduced import (72.6%) so the trade ratio was positive and amounted to 12.3 million kuna in 2016.

Looking solely at 2016, in the winemaking category there were 231 companies with 1.284 employees, a reduction of 9.6% compared to the previous year.

In 2016 winemaking entrepreneurs presented a negative consolidated financial result (3.7 million kuna), a 94.1% reduction compared to 2015 when they made a net loss of 61.5 million kuna. Out of the total number of companies in this category, 64.9% of them made profits. The total income of this category in 2016 was 729.3 million kuna, an increase of 17.6% compared to the previous year.

The average monthly net salary was 4.456 kuna, 1.8% higher than the previous period and 13.3% lower than the average Croatian net salary.

The number of exporters in this category was increased by 27.3% (total of 42), 9 businesses more than in 2015. The number of importers grew by 15.8% (total of 22). The result of export income of 20.1 million kuna in 2016 is a 5.9% increase compared to 2015. Export was also on the rise by 24.4% (7.8 million kuna in 2016).

Out of all the entrepreneurs in winemaking, the largest income was made by Agrolaguna in the amount of 125.5 million kuna, a 17.2% share in total income of this category. The 230 employees in this company averaged a 5.632 kuna net salary. Agrolaguna showed a positive balance in 2016 (1.1 million kuna) compared to the 2 million profit in 2015.

In first place by profit made in 2016 is the Plančić company with 5.5 million kuna, a 14.3% share in total profits. The total income of this company was 6.2 million kuna.

Positive results in 2016 were also made by a sole proprietorship owner Gianfranco Kozlović, in the amount of 4 million kuna, holding second place in this criteria. His total income was 17 million kuna.
