Under this scheme, first students were provided with free holidays on the Adriatic coast in June, and the program will also be implemented in September and October.

HUT director Veljko Ostojić and Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac said that the Ministry of Science and Education, Ministry of Culture and Media, and the Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development were on Monday also included in this project.

The ministries will cover the costs of additional activities by students while the hotel companies will provide the accommodation and meals.

“All of HUT’s members had responded to this call, just like they did immediately after the (29 December) earthquake in Banovina when they donated 116 mobile homes and an additional 262 in agreement with the government. That shows solidarity and social sensitivity by tourism companies to help those in hardship and at a moment when they themselves are not in a great position due to their business situation during the pandemic,” said Ostojić.

Minister Brnjac commended the gesture, adding that this is the continuation of cooperation with HUT to help Sisak-Moslavina County.

The Mate Lovrak elementary school principal in Petrinja, Ankica Krnjajić Magdić, expressed her gratitude for the initiative on behalf of all the students and their teachers.

“This is a unique experience for our children after a very challenging school year, and I am pleased that we were the first school to be covered by this scheme in June,” she said.
