An Email from Facebook Regarding Croatia Safety Check and Wildfires in Split

After TCN reported on the use of Facebook Safety Check for the first time in Croatia, due to the wildfires around Split, an email from the Facebook Consumer Communications, Social Good department on July 20, 2017.

Thanks for your recent coverage of the Safety Check activation in Croatia. I wanted to provide you with updated information that Safety Check is activated by the community, not by Facebook. You can learn more about how it works here. Also, here is a demo. Earlier this year Facebook announced a new feature within Safety Check called Community Help, which allows people to ask for and give help to one another during a crisis.
