Josip Rajaković, entrepreneur, owner of a factory in Krašić, but also a great lover of wine, with a hectare of his own and another leased, is the absolute winner of the 13th wine rating of Zagreb County, Volimivanic.info reported on November 4, 2016.
His Yellow Muscat 2015 was declared champion of the event, champion in the category of white still wines with sugar residue and last harvest wine category. In the white still wines category he championed with a Sauvignon 2015, in the sparkling wines category he won with the Grünvald champagne 2014. In the pink and red aromatic wines category the winner is a coupage of red sorts from 2012 by the Voštinić-Klasnić winery from Ivanić Grad. It should be mentioned Rajaković was given golden awards also for the Graševina and Muscat Otonel (both from 2015), while Voštanić-Klasnić winery for the Yellow Muscat and late harvest Škrlet (both also form 2015).
Awards to the creators of best wines were handed over in Jastrebarsko, at a ceremony during which Lucija Šember, the current wine queen of Zagreb County for 2016, had her mandate extend for 2017 as recognition of her exceptional commitment in promoting wine culture and expanding the circle of consumers and friends of wine.
Golden awards, a total of 44 among 128 rated wines, were handed to winemakers by Deputy Prefect Damir Tomljenović, County Assembly President and MP Dražen Bošnjaković, Deputy Agriculture Minister Tugomir Majdak and Jastrebarsko Mayor Zvonimir Novosel. “I am proud of the competition results, of 44 golden wines. Young educated people, tradition of wine production, experts who remain on their family farms, is the way to go. The County, within its possibilities, invests plenty into wine growing and winemaking, while winemakers give back with good results,” said Damir Tomljenović, adding Zagreb County will continue to support winemakers and in cooperation with them prepare measures and support which will advance their production.
