Representative of Istrian winery Benvenuti, Albert Benvenuti, visited California last week to participate at the fourth Wine Vision conference organised by the International Wine Challenge. Benvenuti winery representatives were invited to participate at this international conference as one of 100 wineries from the world and the only one from Croatia. The reason for the invitation is the gold and national trophy at one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world – IWC, for the dessert wine Benvenuti Muscat Momjan San Salvatore 2011.

The fact an Istrian winery and its wines made it to the select company of cult names such as Domaines Barons de Rothschild, wine producer Chateau Lafitte Rotschild, champagne maker Maison Krug and their famous Krug champagnes, another prestigious champagne producer Maisons et Domaines Henriot, pioneers of Spanish wine making such as Miguel Torres S.A. winery, whose owner hold the title of Decanter Man of the Year and 90 other prestigious names, is a great feat for them, but also for Croatian and Istrian wine making in general. Benvenuti wines already hold the status of undeniable quality on the domestic market and invitation such as this one places them on the list of the most prestigious names and opens doors to the most demanding markets in the world.

The conference was held in Sonoma County in California, one of the most important California wine regions, unique by picturesque places and the fact it is composed of over 50 national and regional parks.

Wine Vision is more than a conference, with a goal for winery representatives to learn something new and share their experiences.

“Over 35 lecturers at the Wine Vision conference shared their experience and observations, which gave us the opportunity to learn new skills in wine production,” pointed out Albert Benvenuti after returning from California.

Benvenuti winery is located in the peaceful Istrian town of Kaldir with a view of nearby Motovun town. Vineyards of the Benvenuti family are populated with three indigenous Istrian varieties: Istrian Malvasia, Terrano and Muscat. The Benvenuti winery hold family values and tradition as a key spice in Benvenuti wines, meaning the wine is just like the person who made it.

It seems this special philosophy in wine production has brought the Benvenuti family numerous prestigious awards, while the story of success surely doesn’t end here!
