Another setback for those looking to implement Adriatic drilling in Croatia?
Is the controversial Adriatic drilling project in more trouble? With contracts due to be signed this week, opposition Facebook group Clean Sea Adriatic Alliance published the following early on September 24, 2015:
“Still NO named source, but this report indicates “a government source”. We wait a bit longer for the “official” news.
Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak in the nine months was unable to prepare the contract, and the government does not want protests during the election campaign. – writes 24sata
– “Contracts are extensive, there are also objections. It will remain for the next government, we do not want to risk doing something wrong in haste.”
This has been corroborated in a report just published on Bloomberg, citing a phone conversation with Minister of Economy, Ivan Vrdoljak:
“Agreements with Eni SpA, Medoil Plc, INA Industrija Nafte d.d., Oando Inc and Vermilion Energy Inc for on-shore and off-shore drilling were delayed as the government wants to avoid pressure from environmental groups and the opposition in the election campaign, Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak said in a phone interview late on Wednesday.
“We don’t want these contracts, in which we put a lot of hard work, to become fodder in election campaign,” he said. “We hope to win and sign the contracts in the first cabinet session.” Read the full article here.
