The government-appointed commissioner has confirmed one of Agrokor owner Ivica Todorić’s allegations.
After he was accused earlier today in a post written by Agrokor owner Ivica Todorić that he was lying about the Knighthead fund, which provided loans to Agrokor, the government-appointed commissioner in the company Ante Ramljak admitted that he gave false information in a public statement, reports Index.hr on September 27, 2017.
Todorić accused Ramljak of lying due to his earlier statement in which he claimed that “Knighthead Capital is a fund listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.” Ramljak today admitted this was not true. “The company is not listed on the stock market. I will issue a correction of the false statement I have given. This company trades on the stock exchange. If this is a proof of my dramatic incompetence, then I am dramatically incompetent,” said Ramljak. He also added that personal accusations made by Todorić against him are of no concern and that “people will judge who he is.”
In a recent interview, Ramljak said, “Knighthead Capital is a fund listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. When we started discussions with the creditors’ council, the information became public because they had to announce it to the stock market. We wanted to send a calming message to the public that the liquidity needed to operate has been secured because Knighthead Capital knew the situation and agreed to pay the first tranche of the loan in the amount of 100 million euros. That money was paid to Agrokor’s account.”
Ivica Todorić responded to this statement earlier today, accusing Ramljak of deliberately and consciously lying to the public. “Ramljak IS LYING. Knighthead did not announce anything to the stock exchange. They are a limited partnership, and there is no obligation to public transparency. Why is Ramljak lying? This is the first important question, and the only logical answer is that he intentionally misled the public, presenting Knighthead as a serious, transparent and respected company, in order to quench the questions that had begun to be asked about that illogical arrangement at that time. Another explanation was that he had entered into such a major deal without knowing to whom he was talking. So, he is either a liar (and a financially interested party), or he is dramatically incompetent. What Ramljak does not mention is that Knighthead earned tens of millions of euros in just a few weeks with this first tranche. Why did the government support that? Rather than answering these and other important questions I have posed, the government and Ramljak are deceiving the public and using the state apparatus, blackmail, fear and pressure to manipulate the public. But the truth is inexorable and always comes out on the surface,” wrote former Agrokor owner Ivica Todorić on his blog, which has become his preferred means of communication with the public in the last few days.
