The Split hotel scene is getting a lot more competitive.
Next year could be the year of construction and opening of hotels in Split, which would be good news since it is well known that Split needs to increase the number of beds in hotels due to a high rate of growth in the number of tourists coming to the city every year. One of the hotels which will be of great importance is the Ambassador Hotel, whose construction will begin early next year. That has been confirmed by Nenad Kurtović, director of Retoi Company, with the beginning of 2017 summer season as the final deadline for the completion of construction works, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on November 18, 2015.
It is an investment worth 17 million euros, which includes the demolition of an old dilapidated building and the construction of new facilities at the same location. As a precondition, the county administration has announced the tender for the concession on maritime domain in front of the hotel. The coastal part of project will include a garage, wellness centre and other facilities for a period of 20 years. For that part of the project, an annual concession fee of 140,754 kuna will be paid. It is an area of 1,300 square metres which will be located between the hotel building and the newly-built coastal promenade. The hotel itself is expected to have a capacity of 110 beds and five luxury apartments.
The deadline for receipt of bids by potential concessionaires is 16 December, while the opening of the bids will be held at the County building on 18 December. In early September, City Department of Construction issued a planning permission for the hotel, and after the County Assembly confirms the concession, the investor will be able to request the confirmation of the main project. “We hope that this time everything will go smoothly. This to our third location permit”, Kurtović said and added that the project has benefitted from the newly-built promenade to Matejuška. He said that the chief architect Neno Kezić, together with colleagues Emil Šverko and Nora Roje, did an excellent job, and he can hardly wait to share with the public the renderings of the project.
