Company revenues are expected to rise by 100 million kuna a year.

The Atlantic Group, owned by entrepreneur Emil Tedeschi, has announced that it would become the official distributor of Mars products in the Croatian market starting from February. The new contract is worth more than 100 million kuna, which is the amount which is expected in 2018 in the form of increased revenues, reports Jutarnji List on January 11, 2018.

Mars products were previously distributed in Croatia by AWT International, a company which finds itself in problems due to the Agrokor crisis. According to unofficial sources, Mars broke up the contract with the company at the end of last year. AWT was one of the larger Agrokor’s suppliers, but in June it launched the pre-bankruptcy proceedings “due to the inability to pay obligations to banks on the basis of unpaid bills by Konzum as the principal debtor.”

Atlantic has won the contract in a tender announced by Mars. It will distribute Mars’ chocolate products, food products and pet products. The new product range includes brands such as Twix, Mars, Bounty, Snickers, M&M’s, Pedigree, Whiskas, Kitekat and Uncle Ben’s.

“This confirms the seriousness of our business plans and announcements about further expansion and strengthening of distribution operations by Atlantic Group. Also, it is a confirmation of our commitment to the realisation of major distribution goals,” said Slaven Romac, general manager of the strategic distribution area Croatia in Atlantic Group.

Since 1991, Atlantic Group has been distributing Wrigley products, which have been part of Mars since 2008.

“We have a great experience and significant expectations of our partnership with Atlantic in the field of distribution of Mars products in Croatia. Through the distribution of the Wrigley product range, we have confirmed that this is a partner from which we can expect the continuation of excellent cooperation. This agreement further extends and completes the already existing cooperation between Mars and Atlantic, which is why we expect even better overall results in all relevant market parameters,” said Darja Šušteršič, director of the Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina markets at Mars, after the signing of the agreement.

Last year, Atlantic Group reached sales in the amount of 5.1 billion kuna, of which 21.4 percent were from external brands (Unilever, Ferrero, Rauch…) and 67.8 percent were from its own brands.
