Total Croatia News

According to first data from the eVisitor system and eCrew, there were a total of 13.63 million arrivals and 80.24 million overnight stays

At the beginning of September more overnight stays were made than in all of last year. It is an indicator that this season is truly record-breaking, the Tourism Ministry and Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) have announced, as Index.hr reported on September 9, 2016.

According to first data from the eVisitor system and eCrew, there were a total of 13.63 million arrivals and 80.24 million overnight stays at the beginning of September.

“This is an excellent result considering the register of the tourism boards showed 80.02 million overnight stays in all of last year. This result is proof that tourist are staying longer in Croatia and that the eVisitor system greatly contributed to a neater registry of tourism traffic,” HTZ announced.

Director of HTZ Ratomir Ivičić said it is not easy to surpass the results from last year already nine months and added the income from the record season will also be larger than expected.

In the first eight months of this year the most overnight stays were recorded in Adriatic counties starting with Istria (20.7 million), Primorje-Gorska County (14.4 million), Split-Dalmatia County (14 million), Zadar County (9.7 million), Dubrovnik-Neretva County (5.9 million) and Šibenik-Knin County (5.3 million).

In the first eight months most overnight stays were made by Germans (14.2 million), Slovenes (8.4 million), Austrians (5.7 million), Italians (4.7 million) and Poles (4.5 million).

During August most overnight stays were made in domestic accommodation, camps and hotels. Most of them (over 20 million) were realised through personal arrangement, while the rest through agencies.
